A competitive robotics team from Ottawa, Ontario competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge BIOBUZZ™ season. We design, build, and program robots — and we solve problems.
Who We Are
Problem Solvers #36440 is an Ottawa-based FTC robotics team of 10 students in Grades 7–12. We compete in the FIRST Tech Challenge — a global program where students design, build, program, and operate robots in head-to-head competition. Beyond the robot, we develop engineering notebooks, pursue community outreach, and compete for design and innovation awards.
We use the REV DUO mechanical system to design and construct competition robots capable of completing complex field challenges under time pressure.
Students write Java-based autonomous and driver-controlled code using the REV Control Hub and OnBot Java environment — real engineering, not toy blocks.
Every session is recorded in our Engineering Notebook — a judged deliverable that tracks design decisions, iterations, and lessons learned all season.
We run community outreach events to inspire younger students in STEM and actively promote the values of gracious professionalism across Ottawa.
2026–2027 Season
The 2026–27 FIRST Tech Challenge game is BIOBUZZ™, presented by RTX. Teams compete on a 12×12 ft field, completing game-specific tasks during autonomous and driver-controlled periods. Our season runs from September 2026 through the Ontario Provincial Championship in February 2027.
Our Team
Problem Solvers is a team of 10 students in Grades 7–12, guided by two certified adult coaches with backgrounds in STEM education and competitive robotics. We meet Sundays at Beaverbrook Community Centre in Ottawa.
